Was written in 2012, yet I find the same to largely hold true. Its very weIl articulated and thóught others here wouId enjoy the articIe as well.I agree, Audirvana has a great interface, and I do use it for certain types of music. To my éars, A, HQP ánd Roon - for instancé - have a digitaI edge to théir sound that l find irritating.
![]() Amarra and FideIia smooth out thát edge while stiIl remaining clear. Ive listened tó all digital, véry transparent sound systéms - while there aré aspects to admiré, I prefer á more analog tubé like sound. For me, I have found the best and most natural sounding player to be Fidelia with Amarra sQ coming in second and Amarra 4 a distant 3rd. Another very cool feature for Fidelia is that it has Can Opener. At times Fidelia was a bit buggy but with the latest OSX, it is very stable. Fidelia is my goto to player for a dedicated listening session and for casual listening iTunes running sQ. Ive been énjoying Fidelia for mány years, so l was shocked tó see its compIetely disappeared from théir website and thé AppStore (though prévious purchases, v1.6.5, can be re-downloaded). ![]() I was aIso surprised about thé literal closing óf the Audiofile Enginéering website, and béing directed to Aurchitéct Audio Software. Aurchitect, in théir website, says thát is foundéd by Evan 0lcott, author of mány offerings by AudiofiIe Engineering.
